HD and SD video I/O for Mac and Windows

With one simple plug-and-play FireWire connection, the V4HD turns a Mac or PC desktop or laptop computer into a powerful HD/SD video production workstation equipped with all the video and audio I/O you need. Connect all your gear, from SD camcorders and monitors to today's latest professional HD cameras, video decks, LCD reference monitors and plasmas – all at the same time, with no cable swapping.

In Final Cut Pro, the V4HD supports full-raster 1920x1080 HD capture and playback using Apple's ProRes 422 codec in both standard and HQ modes. In both Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro, the V4HD provides hardware-accelerated capture and playback of DVCProHD/P2, DVCPro50 and DVCPro25 video streams, plus 8- and 10-bit uncompressed SD — all with convenient plug-and-play FireWire connectivity and CPU-efficient intra-frame editing.

Need to bring SD material into your HD project, or vice versa? The V4HD provides hardware-accelerated SD-to-HD up conversion and HD-to-SD down conversion. The V4HD also provides hardware-accelerated pull-down insertion and removal for conversion between video and film frame rates.

As you edit, monitor your timeline on multiple HD and SD displays simultaneously, from the pixel-for-pixel accuracy of a large plasma screen, to the color-corrected balance of an LCD reference monitor, to the real-world look of a consumer display. Use 32 channels of audio I/O to capture, monitor, mix and master multichannel surround sound for your productions at sample rates up to 192 kHz. Employ Sony 9-pin machine control for advanced Batch Capture and Edit to Tape operations. Keep everything frame-accurate using time code, video reference and audio word clock.

The V4HD delivers all this with one simple FireWire 400 or 800 connection — even to a laptop computer. With the V4HD handling video I/O via FireWire, your laptop's expansion slot can be used for high-performance video storage solutions.

SDI • HDMI • Analog video interface for Mac and Windows

The HDX-SDI video interface turns a Mac or PC desktop or laptop computer into a powerful HD/SD video production workstation equipped with all the I/O needed for professional capture and monitoring. Connect any source, from SD camcorders to today’s latest HD cameras, then log and capture clips directly into Apple Final Cut Pro on the Mac or Adobe Premiere Pro on Windows. The HDX-SDI supports all standard SD and HD video formats up to and including 1080p30 (720p, 1080i, 1080p & 1080PsF). For the best-possible image quality, capture uncompressed pixel-for-pixel HD video input via HD-SDI or HDMI with 4:2:2 10-bit color depth and full-raster 1920 x 1080 resolution. For compressed workflows, choose Apple ProRes, ProRes HQ or the codec of your choice in Final Cut or Premiere. The rear panel provides HD/SD component I/O on BNC connectors, and the front panel provides convenient inputs for legacy SD composite or S-video capture.

Advanced features include ASC CDL color grading, RS-422 (SONY 9-pin) machine control, bi-level and tri-level video ref sync, time code in/out with front-panel time code display, 16 channels of simultaneous audio input and output, multi-stem 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound capturing/monitoring, 8-channel analog audio I/O on quarter-inch TRS connectors, 8-channel AES/EBU digital audio I/O, 8-channel SDI and HDMI audio with embedding/de-embedding, and more. Time code support includes LTC, VITC (SD analog), D-VITC (SD-SDI) and embedded (SD/HD-SDI).

The HDX-SDI is housed in a rugged, one rack-space cast metal enclosure with removable brackets for convenient desktop operation. The HDX-SDI is available in two versions: desktop and laptop. The Desktop version includes a PCIe card for connectivity for today’s multi-core Mac and PC towers. The laptop version ships with an ExpressCard/34 adapter for any current-generation Mac or Windows laptop equipped with an ExpressCard slot.

HD and SD video I/O for Mac and Windows

The HD Express opens your Mac or Windows computer to the world of HDMI® video, the next-generation digital video connectivity standard found on today's latest HD cameras, monitors and set top boxes. HDMI delivers full-raster pixel-for-pixel digital clarity combined with stunning image quality and color depth.

For the best-possible image quality, the HD Express lets you capture and monitor full, uncompressed HD video. If you prefer to edit more conveniently at a lower data rate, you can choose Apple ProRes, ProRes HQ or the codec of your choice in Apple Final Cut Pro for maximum CPU efficiency and smooth editing. In Premiere Pro on Windows, you can choose among several popular host-based codecs, including DVCProHD, to eliminate unnecessary extra stages of compression and decompression for maximum CPU efficiency and smooth editing.

For monitoring, connect the HD Express output to any HDMI- or DVI- equipped plasma, LCD monitor or projector (DVI adapter sold separately). The HD Express also provides legacy analog video connectors for capturing and monitoring component HD/SD, composite and S-Video in 10-bit 4:2:2 broadcast quality PAL or NTSC.

The HD Express captures and plays eight channels of embedded HDMI audio, and it even provides eight channels of analog audio output on convenient RCA jacks, which you can connect directly to powered speakers for full 5.1 or 7.1 surround audio monitoring. S/PDIF digital I/O is also provided.

The HD Express is available with PCI Express card connectivity for today’s ultra-fast, multi-core Mac and PC towers, or you can use an ExpressCard adapter for any current-generation Mac or Windows laptop equipped with an ExpressCard slot.
