MOTU AVB stack in a rack

Thanks to record-breaking attendance at this year's NAMM show and a full schedule of presentations, the MOTU booth was as busy as it's ever been. We'd like to thank everyone who stopped by to say hello, talk shop and watch a demo. There's nothing more exciting to us than sharing the latest MOTU news with all of you at the show. As usual, the full complement of MOTU gear was on display. Composers Joey Newman, David Das and Frank Ferrucci shared insights into their Digital Performer workflows for film scoring and music production. MOTU's Matt LaPoint gave packed booth audiences an exciting preview of new features in DP9, plus new audio interface features coming in a firmware update. On Saturday, Jacob Collier stunned the MOTU booth audience with his incredible solo performance (voice and piano).

Watch these videos to relive the excitement and take a deep dive into all the latest MOTU developments.

What's new for Digital Performer 9

MOTU's Matt LaPoint demonstrates numerous enhancements to Digital Performer, including significantly increased CPU efficiency for native plug-ins and virtual instruments, industry-leading latency performance for audio I/O and VI’s, and new plug-ins for generating SMPTE time code and creating hardware inserts for outboard gear. Many of these features are now shipping in DP 9.02, while the rest will be supplied to DP users in a free software update sometime in the next few months.

MOTU audio interface enhancements

MOTU's Matt LaPoint introduces significant new features to be added to the 1248, 8M, 16A and other latest-generation audio interfaces through a free, downloadable firmware upgrade for all users. The firmware update is expected to be available soon, and you will be automatically notified by your MOTU interface web app software, where you can download and install the update with just a few clicks.

Guest artist: Jacob Collier

Musical phenom Jacob Collier, the one-man multi-instrumentalist who has dazzled millions of Youtube viewers with his unique and fathomless talent, stopped by the MOTU booth on Saturday to play three songs. In this video, he performs a cover of George Benson's "On Broadway" with an original arrangement that awed the MOTU booth audience.
