Balalaika Keyswitch

Download QuickTime movie (1.6 MB)

The balalaika is a stringed instrument from Russia often used in traditional Russian folk songs and melodies. It is believed to have been inspired by an instrument imported by the Mongols of Central Asia during the 12th Century invasions.

The single keyswitch preset that Jordan plays here includes no less than seven different layers: Sustain Nylon 1, Sustain Nylon 2, Sustain Metal, Mute Nylon, Mute Metal, Tremolo Nylon, and Tremolo Metal. Jordan smoothly jumps among them to produce another convincingly realistic performance.
