Korg Triton Patch Selection with FreeMIDI

The Triton Rack defaults as having General MIDI selected to be the factory Bank Map for the synth. This will cause the behavior of only General MIDI patches being able to be chosen from any FreeMIDI based program (ie selecting a patch from the Programs Bank will give you a corresponding General MIDI patch only).

To set the Triton up to receive program changes for all of the Performance, User, MOSS, and GM banks follow the directions below.

TRITON KEYBOARD:

  1. Press the GLOBAL button on the Triton Keyboard unit.
  2. At the bottom LCD screen, touch the tab that says system pref.
  3. Make sure that the GM(2) selection next to the Bank Map option is high-lighted. In most cases this option is selected by default, however if it is not in your case, use the Touch View LCD screen and physically touch the GM2 selection. Finally turn the jog wheel to the the right of the screen until the selection is set to read Korg.

TRITON RACK:

  1. Press the GLOBAL button on the Triton Rack unit.
  2. Press the F2 button that is directly under the LCD screen to access the Pref menu.
  3. Make sure that the GM(2) selection next to the Bank Map option is high-lighted. In most cases this option is selected by default, however if it is not in your case, you can use the arrow keys directly under the value knob to scroll to that option. Finally turn the Value knob on the Triton until the selection is set to read Korg.

If you have any further questions on this procedure or function, please consult your Triton User's Manual or contact Korg Technical Support.
