Why isn't the key binding for Duplicate Tracks working with DP or AudioDesk under Tiger (10.4)?

Tiger has introduced a new feature that shares a key binding with a command in Digital Performer & AudioDesk.

The "Look up in Dictionary" function introduced in OS 10.4 (Tiger) command uses the Control-Command-D key binding, which is the same as the default key binding for "Duplicate Tracks" in Digital Performer (and AudioDesk). If the "Look up in Dictionary" function is enabled, pressing Control-Command-D in DP will have no response.

You can remedy this by:

  • Turning off the "Look up in Dictionary" function, or assigning it a new key binding.

To do this, go to Apple menu > System Preferences, then click on "Keyboard & Mouse". To disable it altogether, uncheck the box next to "Look up in Dictionary". To give it a new key binding, double-click in the Shortcut column to the right of "Look up in Dictionary" and press the key binding you'd like to use.

  • Or, reassigning the key binding in Digital Performer or AudioDesk.

Go to Setup menu > Commands and locate "Duplicate Tracks". Click in the Mac Key 1 column, then press the new key binding you want to use for Duplicate Tracks.
