PCI Audio Console (or FireWire audio console) prompts that there are no devices connected, and there is an unknown device in the Windows Device Manager

Chances are your MOTU hardware may have been connected to the computer before the MOTU PCI or FireWire software was installed. In cases such as this, Windows will associate a generic "unknown device" driver with the MOTU interface you are attempting to install. If this occurs, try these steps while your MOTU interface is powered on:

  1. Remove the "unkown device" from the Device Manager
  2. Run the MOTU Core or FireWire setup again (the latest installs are available on our downloads page)
  3. Restart the computer after setup is complete
  4. Allow windows to automatically install any MOTU driver it detects*
  5. Verify installation by going to Sounds/Video/Game Controller in the Device Manager, MOTU drivers will appear there if installed properly.

*note: If any windows are cancelled during the installation process, drivers for your MOTU interface will not install correctly.
