828mkII wins 2004 TEC Award at star-studded event

The readers of Mix Magazine have awarded the 828mkII a 2004 Technical Excellence and Creativity Award for Best Digital Converter Technology.

The Award was announced, along with 22 other categories for outstanding Technical and Creative Achievement, at the 20th annual TEC Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 30th, during the Audio Engineering Society (AES) Show at the San Francisco Marriott. MOTU Director of Marketing Jim Cooper accepted the award.

Hosted by actor/comedian/author/musician and Master of Ceremonies Harry Shearer, this year's ceremony was punctuated with appearances by celebrities and industry luminaries, including guest star Dweezil Zappa, TEC Awards Hall of Fame inductees George Lucas and Elliot Scheiner, and Les Paul award winners Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who were introduced by Janet Jackson in a special surprise guest appearance.

The 828mkII was nominated by a panel comprised of approximately 100 prominent professionals from all areas of the audio industry, followed by a Voter's Guide and ballot appeared in the September issue of Mix Magazine. Returned ballots were directly submitted for tabulation to the certified public accounting firm of Mark Elsberg & Associates, where the winners were kept secret until their announcement at the TEC Award ceremony.

MOTU would like to thank the Mix Foundation, including Hillel Resner and Karen Dunn. Thanks also go to the Editors of Mix Magazine, the members of the nominating panel, and especially the readers of Mix Magazine for their recognition and support.
