When you stripe VITC from the DTP to a video deck it is important to have the video deck in Standard Play (SP) mode as opposed to Extended Play (EP) mode. Extended Play mode degrades the video signal by slowing down the transports and recording more frames in a smaller space on the tape which is bad. Recording VITC in EP mode will result in the DTP either Jam synching or not locking at all.
