Using a MOTU Audio Interface as a D/A Converter to Expand Control Voltage Outputs for Volta

If you would like to add more control voltage–compatible outputs to your system, or if your audio interface's analog outputs are not control voltage–compatible, you can use a MOTU audio interface that has a standalone operation mode as a digital-to-analog (D/A) converter.

You will need to configure the MOTU audio interface to patch through its digital inputs to its analog outputs, and then connect the digital outputs of your main audio interface to the digital inputs on the MOTU audio interface. The analog outputs of the MOTU audio interface can then be connected to the control voltage (CV) inputs on your analog synthesizer. When making output assignments for Volta's CV signals, choose the digital output on your main audio interface that is routed to the desired analog output of your MOTU audio interface.

It is strongly recommended that you install Volta v1.03 or later if you're using a third-party audio interface with Volta.
