You will be part of a small team designing and developing a next generation hardware platform, as well as shepherding current designs through production. A successful candidate will be curious and resourceful, with an interest in researching and developing creative and cost effective solutions to interesting problems. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all parts of product development, while designing and creating the electronics that make music happen.

Skills & Responsibilities

Your background in electrical engineering should have exposed you to:

  • Designing high speed digital circuits, and an understanding of the signal integrity and EMI requirements to do so.
  • Designing low noise analog circuits.
  • Experience working with schematic capture & PCB design software (Altium Designer preferred).
  • Writing microcontroller code to control a variety of peripherals such as SPI, UART, I2S, and capacitive sensors.
  • Layout of PCBs, focusing on signal integrity, high speed signals, and EMI.
  • Design PC boards that are ready for manufacturing.
  • Work with lab equipment such as function generators, oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.
  • Debug of prototype systems to identify exact sources of problems and,
  • Rework PCBs to minimize respins of prototype boards.

Desired Skills

Ideally your background might also contain some of the following:

  • Understanding of noise and crosstalk for design of mixed signal PCBs.
  • Design DC-DC power supplies to generate clean power for analog and digital circuits.
  • Experience with part creation and library management for eCAD software.
  • Knowledge of FPGA design and testbenching in VHDL and Verilog for Xilinx or Altera FPGAs
  • Experience with Hyperlynx or other signal integrity simulation tools.
  • Experience sourcing parts that will be cost effective for production.
