How to toggle Auto-Power mode on the Audio Express and 4pre.
Both the Audio Express and 4pre include an Auto-Power mode, which will allow the interface to power on automatically as soon as a power source, such as a FireWire cable or DC adaptor, is connected.
Auto-power mode is desirable if you want to put the interface in a powered state that simulates a fixed "on" switch. Here's how to enable/disable it:
1. If the interface is already powered on, push and hold the Phones knob for three seconds to power it off.
2. Power on the interface while holding down the 'Mic 1' knob. Upon powering up, you should see "UP" on the front panel display.
3. Press S/PDIF knob to toggle the display between "E" and "D." When "E" is selected, Auto-Power mode will be enabled. When "D" is selected, Auto-Power mode will be disabled.
4. Press and hold the Phones knob to power off the interface. If you have enabled Auto-Power mode, the interface will turn back on automatically.
