The meters in the second generation of MOTU Firewire interfaces reflect the level going out of main outs POST volume knob. To keep your meters at a level that is consistent with what you hear in powered monitors hooked up to your main outs, we recommend that you calibrate your monitors to the main out knob:

• Turn the trim controls on your powered monitors all the way down.
• Then turn the monitor knob on the MOTU Firewire interface all the way.
• Now SLOWLY turn the trim knobs up on your monitors until they reach the maximum volume you'd wish to monitor with.
