How do I record the output of MachFive in mono?

If you have a part in MachFive with a mono sound (for example, a kick drum) that you wish to record as a mono audio file, do the following:

  • In MachFive, set the output of the part to an available pair of busses, such as Bus 1-2.
  • Pan the part hard left.
  • In your host program, create a new mono audio track and set its input to Bus 1.
  • Record-enable the mono audio track and press record.

Note: This FAQ does not apply to the HTDM/RTAS and AU versions of MachFive 1.x, as they currently use the Main output of MachFive (busses are not available). In MachFive 2.0 and later, all formats (including RTAS and AU) have bus outputs.
